Trenchless methods are ideal for major sewer repairs or replacements, as they simplify the process and offer the best solutions to each situation. Our trenchless pipe lining service and our pipe bursting service are two examples. Both services are trenchless, and they both produce great results.
Pipe Lining
Relining the existing pipes can be used to replace main sewer lines. We can reline the pipes with an epoxy liner if they are in a good condition. After cleaning and inspecting the pipes, the first step is to cut the felt tube to fit the section of pipe that needs to be replaced. Our specialized machine is used to push the epoxy coated tube through the system. We then steam and inflate the tube to cure it. It will then cool and harden, creating a new pipe inside the old pipe. It is known as a CIPP (cured-in place pipe) lining. This section or system will now be ready for many decades. It can last up to 50 years with proper maintenance, such as regular cleanings.
Pipe Bursting
You can save money by avoiding a complete replacement if you treat weak areas of your sewer system. Sewer pipe bursting is one way to replace and repair sections of sewer pipes. It is just what it sounds – the bursting of one section of pipe in order to replace it with another pipe. This trenchless pipe replacing process uses a drilling head that bursts pipes as it moves. The drill breaks the pipe into small pieces, which are then pushed into surrounding soil. As the drill is passing through, it is pulling in a segment of new pipe to replace the existing pipe. Once the process is complete and the new pipe has been installed, we will seal the new sections to the old pipes. This will leave you with a new line.
Signs that you need to replace or repair your pipes
Unfortunately, no sewer line lasts forever. Our experienced pipe pros are able to repair or replace sewer pipes in an efficient, cost-effective manner. The following are signs that it is time to contact a trenchless contractor for sewer pipe repair or replacement:
- Water pools above sewer lines buried
- Sewer odors that linger or are persistent
- Damage to the foundation or slab
- Drainage or sewage problems that occur frequently
Replacement Process
Pipe bursting is one option for sewer pipe replacement. Special equipment is used to break up the damaged sewer pipe without removing it. The old pipe is broken into small pieces and a new sewer is installed behind it. The surface above ground is not damaged. Replacement can also be carried out using traditional methods. In this situation, the damaged sewer pipe is exposed and removed to allow for a new one to be installed.
